Catalog work is the activity tax nobody put on the budget.

Catalog work is the activity tax nobody put on the budget.

It’s the SKU you re-described for the fifth marketplace this quarter. The attribute that finally got filled in after six months of waiting on the supplier. The export that broke when the marketplace changed its schema again. The spreadsheet that lives in someone's Slack DMs because that's the only version anyone trusts.

Catalog operations is a real job. It's just spread across a dozen people who didn’t sign up for it.

Now ask anyone in the building how the catalog is actually performing this quarter — search visibility, on-site findability, conversion, returns coming back from bad data. You’ll get a shrug. Hours go in. Outcomes don't move.

You’re paying for the work twice. Once in salaries, and once in the business outcomes the work was supposed to produce.

That's the activity tax. Ascend is how you stop paying it.

Not a tool. A team that runs your catalog operations on your behalf.

Not a tool. A team that runs your catalog operations on your behalf.

We take on the catalog work your team is doing today, plus the work they don't have time to do. The SEO-driven enrichment. The AI-answer-engine optimization. The new-product onboarding that's been queued for two quarters. The whole catalog, all the channels, all the time.

We run it through the Continuous Catalog Performance Cycle — a closed-loop operating model that connects what's actually happening in market back to what's missing in your product data. Performance tells us where to dig. Enrichment lands the fix. The cycle compounds month over month.

We commit to outcomes we report on every month: search visibility, findability on your site, conversion, and data quality scored against the standards we set together. Not another backlog or status update. A scoreboard with our name on it.

Five steps. One closed loop. Every cycle leaves your catalog measurably better than the last.

Ingest

Most catalog audits are static. A consultant pulls a snapshot, scores it, emails it around, and six weeks later it's wrong and nobody's updated it.

Ascend is wired into the live signals that move catalog economics. Google Search Console shows where products fail to get found, GA4 shows where they fail to convert, and your PIM shows where the attribute gap is hiding. We watch all three against the channels that drive your revenue, every day. No more audit theatre.

Score

Every SKU gets a Priority Score from 1 to 100. The score is conversion-weighted, which means it doesn't just measure how visible a product is. It measures whether visibility is actually producing revenue.

The clever bit is the relevance gate. Attribute completeness sets a floor underneath the score, so we only flag SKUs where enrichment is the right fix. If a SKU is failing in market and the data is fine, that's a different problem and we don't burn cycles on it. If the SKU is failing and the data is thin, that's a SKU we touch. The score tells us where work will pay off.

03-red-crown-leaf
Prioritize

Most catalog programs treat “fix the bad data” as the only lever. Ascend's Priority Queue is honest about what kind of fix each SKU actually needs.

ENRICH means the data is the problem and we own the fix end-to-end.

INVESTIGATE means the data is fine but the SKU is still underperforming — that's a pricing question, a merchandising question, or a category-positioning question. We flag it; you make the call.

MONITOR means the SKU is healthy. Leave it alone. Don't waste a quarter polishing what's already working.

The queue refreshes continuously, so the work the team is doing today is the work that will produce the most lift this month.

Enrich

This is where the work happens. Pivotree’s enrichment combines AI for breadth and speed with human specialists for taxonomy judgment, brand voice, and category nuance. The AI doesn’t run wild; the humans don't grind on what a model can do faster.

We can work from whatever your suppliers send us — PDFs, raw scrapes, half-broken CSVs — or from the live web for products without clean source data. Either way, every output is mapped to your taxonomy, written to your standards, and ready for the channels you sell on.

05-purple-crown-leaf
Publish

Enriched data lands back in your source systems. Your PIM stays the system of record; we keep it honest. Every product that hits your Golden Record meets the completeness, consistency, and quality bar your business actually needs — not a vendor's idea of best practice.

When you publish from your PIM out to a marketplace, a search index, a sales tool, or an AI agent, the data is already channel-ready. No reformatting in flight.

The Loop

Performance data drives prioritization. Prioritization drives enrichment. Enrichment lands back in your source systems. The loop runs again — and every cycle leaves your catalog measurably better than the last.

Not a tool you have to use. Not a project to manage. Business outcomes.

Search

How your products show up in search engines and AI answer engines. Buyers go to Google, Bing, ChatGPT, and Perplexity before they go to you — and increasingly the answer engine doesn't take them to your site, it tells them what to buy. If your product data isn't structured for that conversation, you're invisible. We measure visibility against the queries your buyers are actually running.

find-icon-purple-circle

Find

Whether shoppers on your site can locate what they came for. Site search and faceted navigation are where the catalog earns its keep with buyers who already trust you. If they can't filter to a 24-volt, NEMA-rated, IP67 component in two clicks, they bounce. Find is the metric that quietly costs you the most.

conversion-icon-purple-circle

Conversion

What happens after they find it — sales, RFQs, returns, and disputes. Conversion is the test the catalog has to pass. We measure it against the SKUs we've enriched so we can show you the lift, not just the activity.

data-quality-icon-purple-circle

Data Quality

How complete and rich your underlying catalog data actually is. We score every SKU against the standard we define together — required attributes, channel-specific requirements, taxonomy alignment, image and description coverage. The score moves every month. The board can read it.

Six commitments. Every one of them measurable.

A dedicated team on day one

From kickoff, you have a governance lead, a taxonomy architect, enrichment specialists, and an optimization function on point. No staff-up phase. No "discovery quarter" before real work starts.

Essential product data filled in 90 days

Every active SKU gets brought up to the standard we set together for the channels you sell on. Not a sample, not a pilot category — the working catalog. By day 90, the gap between what's in your PIM and what your channels need is measurably closed.

Continuous data enrichment

After the 90-day fill, the cycle keeps running. New products onboard to standard. Existing SKUs get re-prioritized as performance data shifts. The Priority Score keeps the team focused on whatever will produce the most lift this month — guaranteed better every cycle.

Channel-ready onboarding

New product introductions used to mean a six-week delay before the SKU could be marketed properly. Ascend onboards every new product to the channel-ready standard before it ever hits your PIM. Supplier handoff to live listing without the bottleneck.

Real ROI you can show the board

We report monthly on completeness, data quality, and directional commerce indicators tied to the SKUs we've worked. One view. Refreshed monthly. Built for the conversation you'll have with your CFO, not the one you'll have with your developer.

A quarterly strategy review

Every quarter, leadership sits down with our governance lead. We review what's working, what's stuck, and where to redirect priority. Scope can flex, standards can sharpen, the program adapts as your business does.

This isn't a side project for us.

We’ve spent 20+ years building and managing the systems that get products from a database to a doorstep — PIM, MDM, commerce platforms, the integrations between them, and the operations that keep all of it honest after go-live.

Ascend is what we’ve learned from running catalog work at that scale, productized into a managed program. The taxonomies, the enrichment workflows, the scoring model, the reporting cadence — none of it is theoretical. It's the actual work, packaged so a buyer can buy it.

Every product moves twice. Ascend is how the digital trip stops generating busywork and starts generating measurable lift.

CATALOG BOOSTER

See it work on your catalog before you sign anything.

PROOF BEFORE COMMIT

See it work on your catalog before you sign anything.

We're offering our Catalog Booster program at no charge to qualified organizations, and we accept around three per month. We'll take one of your product categories and run it through the cycle end-to-end. We define what 100% clean, consistent, and complete data looks like for your business. We score the category, enrich a working sample, and hand back an ROI model and a report you can take to the board.

If we're the right fit, the Catalog Booster becomes the foundation of full implementation. Standards are set, the team is up the curve, and the program starts from a running start.

If we're not the right fit, you keep the model and the report. There isn't a catch.
